Description

The motorhome area of the Camping du Fond de la Baie, located under a pine grove on the beach at Locquirec (Lannion Bay), offers waste disposal, water resupply, electrical hookups and parking in a very ventilated setting sheltered by trees. Ideal for hikers and cycle tourists, it is directly on the GR34 and the Vélomaritime EV4; stays are limited to 48 hours (longer stays are directed to the adjoining campsite which provides sanitary facilities accessible year-round for its residents). Locquirec, a link between Finistère and the Côtes-d'Armor, invites discovery of its nine beaches, small coves, the church with a polychrome vault and the manor of Île-Blanche in green-blue schist. In summer the small port comes alive with concerts, fireworks and fest-noz, and the Tuesday morning market celebrates Morlaix-Penzé oysters, scallops from the bay of Morlaix and kig ha farz — a refreshing interlude where “who came returns, who returned, stays!”

Tourisme

Locquirec (Finistère, France)

Locquirec is a small coastal village set on the Baie de Morlaix, in the north of Finistère. The town offers a pleasant mix of a sheltered main beach, a modest harbor and a seafront lined with seaside villas. The pace remains relaxed: tides mark the day, walks and seafood restaurants enliven summer evenings. It’s a welcome stop for those seeking calm, sea views and access to the coastal path.

Heritage and architecture

The center preserves typical houses and Belle Époque holiday villas that reflect the seaside boom of the 19th century. The town’s parish church, visible from several points, structures the urban landscape. The streets around the harbor retain a human scale, conducive to wandering.

Nature and landscapes

Locquirec offers contrasts between sandy beaches, rocky coves and low cliffs. Views over the Baie de Morlaix are luminous, especially at sunrise and sunset. The proximity of the coastal path allows sweeping views of nearby islands and sandbanks.

Outdoor activities

The GR34 crosses the commune: coastal hikes, family walks and mountain-bike outings are easy to organize. The bay also favours kayaking, shore fishing at spring tides and supervised swimming in season on the main beach.

Gastronomy and atmosphere

Local tables highlight seafood: shellfish, fish and crustaceans. The atmosphere remains friendly and relaxed, typical of a small Breton port where people come for the sea air as much as for the food.

Not to be missed

  • Plage de Locquirec: main beach, ideal for swimming.
  • Baie de Morlaix: sea panoramas and spectacular tides.
  • Port de Locquirec: starting point for walks and sea trips.
  • GR34: coastal path offering fine hikes.
  • Villas balnéaires: Belle Époque façades along the seafront.
