Le Controis-en-Sologne (Loir-et-Cher, France)
Le Controis-en-Sologne is a new commune in Loir-et-Cher created in 2019, centered on the town of Contres. It lies in the traditional Sologne, a landscape of forests, ponds and farmland. The commune combines rural villages and small towns offering local services. It is a discreet gateway to the Loire Valley and its heritage riches.
Heritage and history
The area retains visible medieval and rural traces. Among them, the Château de Fougères-sur-Bièvre (on the associated commune) illustrates the region's fortified architecture. The towns preserve tuffeau or local stone houses, small churches and old washhouses that tell the peasant history. Local archives and interpretation panels help place these elements in time.
Nature and landscapes
The Sologne appears here through ponds, groves and low moorland. A landscape conducive to tranquility, it changes with the seasons: shimmering waters in spring, colorful undergrowth in autumn. The diversity of habitats favors birdlife visible at dawn and dusk.
Outdoor activities and leisure
Hiking, mountain biking and nature observation are easy to organize thanks to a network of rural paths. Pond fishing and traditional hunting are practiced in the region, supervised by local associations. Cycling loops also allow reaching neighboring villages and exploring the Sologne countryside.
