Description

Welcome to the L'Épine motorhome area, an ideal starting point for exploring the island of Noirmoutier. Here you will find waste disposal, water refilling, electrical hookup and parking to set up easily. Enjoy some 40 km of beaches, the salt marshes and their artisanal salt harvest, or a walk to the Bois de la Chaise with its century-old trees clinging to the rocks. Keep in mind that access and your departures to the mainland can depend on tide times — especially if you take the famous Passage du Gois, a spot also popular for shore fishing.

Tourisme

L'Épine (Vendée, France)

L'Épine is located on the Île de Noirmoutier, off the Vendée coast. A compact commune, it offers a coastal landscape marked by dunes, salt marshes and villages with traditional white houses. The island setting favors water activities and bike rides. It is a quiet base for exploring the island and its maritime uses.

Heritage and history

The local heritage is modest but tangible. The Église Notre‑Dame‑de‑l'Assomption dominates the village and bears witness to the long-standing religious presence on the island. The streets preserve traditional houses, often restored, that reflect the island's vernacular architecture. There are also markers and elements recalling the area's salt-making history.

Nature and landscapes

The landscapes alternate sandy beaches, dunes and wide expanses of salt marshes. These environments attract varied birdlife, especially during migration, and offer luminous viewpoints at sunrise and sunset. Coastal paths and bike lanes allow you to take in these panoramas with ease.

Outdoor activities and leisure

Cycling is widespread thanks to the safe routes that cross the island. Sailing, kayaking and shore fishing are accessible from several coves and nearby beaches. The salt marshes also offer educational walks when local producers open their saltworks.

Gastronomy

The cuisine highlights seafood and the local salt. You will often find oysters, mussels, and the fleur de sel de Noirmoutier, used by restaurateurs and sold by producers.
