Description

In the heart of Pontivy, this motorhome area offers spacious, well-defined pitches with electric hookup, water supply, waste discharge and parking secured by a lifting barrier. You will have access to the campsite sanitary facilities (showers, toilets, laundry) and permission to unpack on the pitches. The central location makes shops and services immediately accessible, and every Monday morning don’t miss the market labeled "Marché de France" bringing together about sixty traders. In high season, friendly events encourage encounters between holidaymakers, and the region invites you to enjoy local specialties such as andouille de Guémené, galettes and kouign-amann.

Tourisme

Pontivy (Morbihan, France)

Pontivy is a Breton town located in the heart of the Armorican Massif, at the junction between the Blavet valley and the Nantes–Brest Canal. Its appearance mixes medieval remains and 19th-century urban planning, a legacy of a period when Napoleon marked the town. There is an active river life, walks along the quays and a lively city-centre commercial fabric. It is a convenient starting point for exploring central Morbihan.

Heritage and history

Pontivy’s heritage revolves around the Château des Rohan (Rohan Castle), a medieval fortress altered over the centuries that dominates the town. In the early 19th century, the commune took the name Napoléonville, still visible in the alignment and width of certain streets. The military and administrative past is readable in the façades and some notable public buildings.

Architecture and urban planning

The centre shows a clear contrast: the massive silhouette of the castle and timber‑framed houses sit alongside more regular boulevards resulting from Napoleonic redesign. The quays along the Blavet and the locks of the Nantes–Brest Canal give the urban landscape a gentle port atmosphere, conducive to leisurely strolls.

Nature and outdoor activities

The banks of the canal and the riverside paths offer pleasant walks on foot or by bike. One can board for boat trips or enjoy the cycle paths that connect Pontivy to surrounding villages. The proximity of forests and moors also allows for easy hikes.

Gastronomy and markets

Local gastronomy fits the Breton tradition: crêperies, regional products and local ciders are common. The weekly city-centre market often offers charcuterie, cheeses and market garden produce from the region.
