Tourisme

Petit-Caux (Seine-Maritime, France)

Petit-Caux is a new commune on the Alabaster Coast, created in 2016 and grouping several villages from the coastline and the hinterland. Located between cliffs and bocage, it offers a landscape marked by chalk cliffs, pebble beaches and agricultural hamlets. Close to Dieppe, the commune benefits from access to urban services while remaining rural and peaceful. The local heritage reflects a well-rooted rural and maritime history.

Heritage and history

There are many parish churches and rural manor houses, often dated from the 15th–19th centuries, dotting the villages. Local archives and landscapes preserve the memory of former maritime and agricultural activities. Place names and flint-and-brick farms recall the evolution of a territory between sea and cultivated land.

Nature and landscapes

The coast is dominated by the chalk cliffs of the Côte d’Albâtre, interrupted by coves and pebble beaches. The hinterland features bocage with hedgerows, meadows and small rivers. Birdwatching and the viewpoints offer maritime panoramas characteristic of the English Channel.

Outdoor activities

The route of the GR21 and local trails allow long hikes along the cliffs and through the countryside. The pebble beaches are suitable for walks, shore fishing and geological discoveries. Small rural roads are suitable for cycle touring and family rides.

Gastronomy and markets

Local cuisine highlights products from the sea and the bocage: fish and shellfish, Norman cheeses and dairy products. Local markets offer seasonal products and regional specialties.
