Condé-en-Normandie (Calvados, France)
Condé-en-Normandie is a new commune located in the heart of the Suisse Normande, in the Calvados department. Created in 2016 by the merger of several communes including Condé-sur-Noireau, it stretches along bocage valleys and winding rivers. The contrasting relief and variety of landscapes make it a favored base for nature getaways but also for discovering a local heritage marked by industrial and rural history. The atmosphere remains calm, suitable for walks and outdoor activities.
Heritage and history
The town bears traces of a past linked to small industries and valley trades. There are old quarters along the river, utilitarian buildings and remnants of rural activities. The evolution into a commune nouvelle (2016) has increased the territory's visibility without erasing its character of small village units.
Nature and landscapes
The relief of the Suisse Normande offers panoramas of cliffs, meadows and bocage. The Noireau valley crosses the commune; its meanders create pleasant viewpoints and banks ideal for relaxation. Colors vary greatly with the seasons, from the bright green of spring to the golds of autumn.
Outdoor activities
The networks of paths allow hiking, mountain biking and following routes along the river. On the Noireau, fishing and small-scale water leisure activities are sometimes practiced. Several marked walking loops allow discovery of mills, small bridges and hamlets.
