Description

The Saint-Ferréol parking area, on the edge of a departmental road less than one kilometre from Crest town centre, welcomes motorhome users with grey and black water disposal, a water refill point, electric hookups and parking spaces. Ideal for dropping your bags before going for a stroll, Crest is known for its lively markets — a food market on Tuesday mornings at Place de la Halle-au-Blé, generous markets on Saturday mornings (fresh produce, fish, cold cuts, juices and wines from the Drôme) and regular craft markets; in summer, also enjoy night markets and, in season, the Christmas market. Don't miss the Défarde crestoise, a traditional dish made from lamb tripe showcased locally at the Maison de la Défarde. A town with a rich heritage, Crest also promotes a modernity respectful of the environment, perfect for a friendly and gourmet stay.

Tourisme

Crest (Drôme, France)

Crest rises in the Drôme valley, at the foot of the Vercors foothills. The small town combines a compact medieval center with open panoramas over the massif. One feels a rich historical past while enjoying outdoor activities. Its location makes it a convenient stop to explore the Drôme Provençale.

Heritage and history

The Tour de Crest, visible from afar, dominates the town. This medieval keep reaches about 52 m and shapes the urban landscape. The center retains narrow streets and old façades, witnesses of past centuries. There are also remains of ramparts and vaulted passages that invite walking.

Nature and landscapes

The Drôme valley offers wooded banks and pebble shores suitable for strolls. To the west, the slopes of the Vercors rise quickly and open wild panoramas. The contrast between the peaceful river and the limestone ridges is a distinctive feature of the area.

Outdoor activities

The region attracts hikers, cyclists and water sports enthusiasts. Routes run along the river; the surrounding hills offer mountain-bike loops and hiking trails. The proximity of the Vercors also allows access to more challenging routes at a short distance.

Gastronomy

On stalls and in local restaurants, typical Drôme products are found: nougat de Montélimar, local wines such as Clairette de Die, honeys and regional cheeses. Markets and delicatessens highlight these simple, local flavors.
