Binic-Étables-sur-Mer (Côtes-d'Armor, France)
Binic-Étables-sur-Mer is a seaside commune on the north coast of Brittany, formed by the merger of Binic and Étables-sur-Mer on March 1, 2016. It opens onto the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, offering a mix of a marina, sandy beaches, and maritime neighborhoods. The town retains a family resort atmosphere, lively in season while remaining peaceful outside summer. Tourist services are concentrated around the waterfront and the port.
Heritage and history
The maritime past is visible in the quays and the old granite warehouses lining the port. Binic was long a tuna and industrial port, then a seaside resort from the late 19th century. There are seaside villas and stone facades that testify to these successive eras. The local identity remains marked by the sea and fishing.
Nature and landscapes
The location on the Bay of Saint-Brieuc offers spectacular tides and changing panoramas depending on the tidal coefficients. Sandy beaches alternate with small coves and dunes. The GR34 (Sentier des Douaniers) runs along the nearby coast, ideal for short hikes offering views of the bay and offshore islands.
Outdoor activities and leisure
Pleasure boating dominates: marina, sailing schools, sea outings and shore fishing at low tide. Water sports such as stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking are common. In season, the waterfront promenade and markets attract families and walkers.
Gastronomy
The local cuisine highlights seafood: shellfish, fish and crustaceans served in the port restaurants. There are also creperies and Breton regional products in shops and markets.
