Description

In the heart of Beaune, the capital of Burgundy wines, this motorhome area welcomes you right in the city centre with marked pitches and parking limited to 4 hours — ideal for a practical and cultural stopover. You will find emptying facilities, water refill and electrical hookup, with the use of awnings and garden furniture strictly prohibited to preserve the communal space. Enjoy an escape amid renowned vineyards while staying within walking distance of the city's attractions (Beaune is, however, smaller than Dijon, Chalon‑sur‑Saône, Mâcon or Auxerre).

Tourisme

Beaune (Côte-d'Or, France)

Beaune is the historic capital of Burgundy wines, located at the heart of the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune. The town retains a compact medieval center, ideal for walking. There is a rich oenological offering, from family cellars to major houses, as well as notable wine-related events. Beaune attracts both history enthusiasts and those looking to taste Burgundy terroirs.

Heritage and history

The most famous symbol is the Hôtel-Dieu (Hospices de Beaune), founded in 1443, notable for its roof of polychrome glazed tiles. The neighboring Collégiale Notre-Dame reflects transformations from the Middle Ages to the Gothic period. The ramparts and some ancient gates recall Beaune’s strategic and commercial role over the centuries.

Gastronomy and wines

Beaune is a gateway to local appellations: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune are regularly tasted there. Cellars offer tastings, winery visits and retail purchases. Burgundian cuisine (including bœuf bourguignon, snails and regional charcuterie) naturally accompanies these wines.

Architecture and museums

Besides the polychrome roofs, townhouses from the 16th–17th centuries line the streets of the center. The Musée du Vin de Bourgogne provides an overview of winemaking practices and traditional tools. The covered markets enliven the central square and give a concrete glimpse of local life.

Activities and landscapes

The surrounding vineyards are suitable for hiking or cycling, with waymarked routes to the first slopes of the appellation. Tastings and domain visits help explain the notion of terroir specific to the region. In November, the Hospices de Beaune sale attracts an international audience.
