Description

Welcome to the Bouillé‑Courdault mooring area, a warm welcome in the heart of a rural commune of 950 ha, between plain and marsh, at the gateway to the Poitevin wet marshes (SE Vendée). You moor at a fixed wooden pontoon 30 m by 2 m equipped with a combined electricity and drinking water terminal for your comfort (electrical connection and water resupply). The site, at the end of the Canal de la Vieille Autise and close to the Port de Courdault, offers a fine opening into the marsh, within a dense hydrographic network including the Autise and the Vieille Autise. A stone's throw from local fountains — including the Saint‑Quentin fountain and the Fontaine de Courdault, perfect for a picnic — and located 12 km from Fontenay‑le‑Comte and 20 km from Niort, it is a peaceful and convenient stopover for your calls.

Tourisme

Bouillé-Courdault (Vendée, France)

Bouillé-Courdault is a small rural village set in the heart of a bocage marsh landscape. Quiet and unobtrusive, it offers a typical Vendée commune welcome, between crops, wet meadows and waterways. The site serves as a gateway to the Marais poitevin and its water-and-green atmospheres. One feels a village life marked by agriculture and activities related to the waterways.

Nature and landscapes

The territory features strips of meadow, canals and willows that define the local landscape. Water variations create changing reflections throughout the seasons and attract wetland birdlife. Walks on foot or by bike along the towpaths allow observation of the transition between bocage and marsh.

Heritage and built environment

The communal housing remains human-scaled: farms, stone houses and small religious buildings dot the village. Elements related to water management — dikes, small ports and locks — testify to the local history of hydraulic control and agricultural use.

Outdoor activities

Bouillé-Courdault is well suited to gentle hiking, cycle touring and nature observation. The canals invite boat or kayak trips on calm routes. The geographic location also facilitates outings to nearby towns and sites of the Marais poitevin.

Not to be missed

  • The locks: functional remnants of the local hydraulic network, visible along the canals.
  • The Marais poitevin: an emblematic landscape to explore for its waterways and biodiversity.
  • Boat/kayak rides: to discover the banks and the tranquility of the canals.
  • Cycle paths: quiet routes between fields and marsh.
