Plévenon (Côtes-d'Armor, France)
Plévenon is a former coastal commune in the Côtes-d'Armor, attached since 2016 to the commune of Fréhel. The territory stretches around the spectacular Cap Fréhel, offering pink sandstone cliffs and sea panoramas open onto the English Channel. The atmosphere mixes Breton villages, small coves and historical sites clearly visible from the coastal paths. It is a place prized for hiking, birdwatching and peaceful seaside getaways.
Heritage and history
The site is marked by defensive and maritime constructions. The Fort-la-Latte (also called Château de la Roche Goyon) overlooks the sea since the 16th century and remains a concrete example of coastal military architecture. The landscape also bears the memory of the old customs officers' paths that monitored the coast.
Nature and landscapes
The cliffs of Cap Fréhel offer wild panoramas over heather moors, steep cliffs and rocky islets. The contrast between the pink stone and the vast marine skies creates very photogenic views, especially at sunrise and sunset.
Outdoor activities
The GR 34 (customs officers' trail) crosses the coast and allows long walks between sea panoramas and coves. Mountain biking, sailing from small beaches and birdwatching on the promontories are also practiced there.
Gastronomy and atmosphere
Local cuisine highlights seafood: oysters, mussels and fresh fish, accompanied by galettes and cider. The atmosphere remains that of an authentic Brittany, quiet off-season and lively in summer.
