Description

The motorhome area of the municipal campground L’Étang de Titard, in Saint-Germain-du-Bois (Saône-et-Loire, Bresse louhannaise between Jura and Burgundy), welcomes you on the edge of a pond in a calm, hilly natural setting. Accessible 24 hours via an automated rising barrier, it offers parking, a grey and black water drainage point, a potable water supply point and electrical hookups at the pitches. On site, toilets, showers and a laundry are available (seasonal services), and the village center, reachable on foot, offers a bakery, pharmacy, supermarket and a petrol station. Also enjoy the Saveurs market on Saturday morning, local events, outdoor activities (hiking, fishing, horseback riding, tennis) and a nearby intermunicipal swimming pool.

Tourisme

Saint-Germain-du-Bois (Saône-et-Loire, France)

Saint-Germain-du-Bois is a rural village nestled in the bocage of Saône-et-Loire. Housing remains dispersed, with stone farms and meadows where Charolais cattle graze. The atmosphere is peaceful, suitable for walks and countryside relaxation. The village often serves as a starting point for exploring the Bourbonnais countryside and southern Burgundy.

Heritage and history

The heart of the village retains traditional buildings and an parish church of ancient origin, typical of small rural Burgundian parishes. There are sometimes modest architectural details and wayside crosses in the hamlets. Local history is mainly agricultural, connected to livestock farming and rural life.

Nature and landscapes

The landscapes are dominated by bocage meadows, hedges and small woods. Hikers appreciate country lanes, stream edges and open viewpoints over the surrounding countryside. In season, the roads offer quiet routes for cycling.

Outdoor activities and leisure

The commune invites walking, cycling and observing rural life. The proximity of farms sometimes allows meetings with farmers and discovery of farming practices. For those who enjoy peace, sunrises and sunsets over the meadows are simple but memorable moments.

Gastronomy and local products

The region highlights Charolais beef and local farm products. The offer is complemented by Burgundy wines available in neighboring villages and terroir products sold occasionally at the market or farm.

Not to be missed

  • Village church — visit the parish building and locate the older elements.
  • Bocage meadows — walks to observe the Charolais landscape.
  • Local farms — discovery and purchase of Charolais beef directly from the source.
  • Hiking routes — country trails to explore on foot or by bike.
  • Municipal market / local festival — opportunities to taste local products (seasonal).
