L'Aiguillon-la-Presqu'île (Vendée, France)
L'Aiguillon-la-Presqu'île is a recent coastal commune located at the southern tip of the Vendée coast, near the mouth of the Sèvre Niortaise. Born from the merger of neighboring communes, it combines fishing villages, beaches and wetlands. The coastline forms a peninsula protected by dunes and coastal ridges alternating sand and salt-marsh vegetation. It is a balance point between maritime activities, nature and family seaside holidays.
Nature and landscapes
The geography is characterized by the marshes and mudflats bordering the estuary, colonized by halophilic vegetation and frequented by migratory birds. The coast offers dunes and sandy beaches suitable for walks at low tide. Views over the Sèvre estuary and the bay facilitate birdwatching and nature photography.
Outdoor activities and leisure
The area is ideal for cycling thanks to bike paths linking villages and natural sites. Shore fishing and coastal walks are common activities, as are boat trips from the local port to explore the channels. The calm waters are suitable for gentle water sports and beginners.
Gastronomy and local products
The cuisine emphasizes seafood: fresh fish, crustaceans and shellfish depending on arrivals. You can also find regional Vendée specialties at local restaurants and markets, where fishermen's products can be bought directly.
