Description

Welcome to the Clairvaux-les-Lacs motorhome area, nestled on the lakeshore and offering immediate access to the water for walks or a sunny picnic. On site: parking, waste water disposal point, drinking water taps and electrical hookup; a nearby service station provides fuel. Within a few minutes' walk you will find an artisan bakery, pharmacy, tobacco/newsagent and supermarket, and the local market takes place on Wednesday mornings in the village hall car park (fresh produce and crafts in summer). The municipality, certified Station Verte and Blue Flag, also offers hiking trails and viewpoints accessible directly from the village, as well as a medieval tower and the Saint-Nithier church to discover. Located 24 km from Lons-le-Saunier and 90 km from Geneva, it is an ideal stopover to enjoy the Jura.

Tourisme

Clairvaux-les-Lacs (Jura, France)

Clairvaux-les-Lacs is a village in the Jura known for its bodies of water and its relaxing natural setting. It is organized around two main lakes that attract families and outdoor enthusiasts in summer. The village retains a small-scale lakeside resort atmosphere, with easy walks and viewpoints over the water. It is a good base for exploring the surrounding bocage and forested Jura.

Nature and landscapes

The two bodies of water bordering the village offer grassy shores and wooded horizons. Depending on the season, the light on the lakes changes greatly, making it ideal for photographic walks and birdwatching. The nearby hills and forests extend opportunities for short walks or more engaging hikes.

Outdoor activities and leisure

People come to Clairvaux-les-Lacs for swimming, picnics by the water, and non-motorized water activities. Footpaths and cycle routes allow you to circle the lakes or connect to neighboring villages. Fishing is regularly practiced, subject to local regulations and seasons.

Gastronomy and local products

The local cuisine follows Jura traditions: cheeses such as Comté, regional charcuterie and Jura wines (to be discovered alongside meals, notably Vin jaune for enthusiasts). Local markets and small shops often offer these specialties.

Atmosphere and local tourism

A quiet village off-season, Clairvaux-les-Lacs lives to the rhythm of summer holidays. There are modest accommodation options and family-oriented services. The place attracts for its simple, invigorating character rather than spectacular attractions.

Not to miss

  • Grand Lac — large body of water ideal for walking and swimming.
  • Petit Lac — a more intimate water body, pleasant for tranquility and observation.
  • Trails around the lakes — accessible walks and bike loops.
  • Water activities — rentals and practice of non-motorized boats depending on the season.
  • Tasting Comté and Jura wines — regional products to try at local retailers.
