Description

A small friendly area for motorhome users awaits you in the heart of the Bris industrial zone, in Saint-Trojan-les-Bains: a dedicated pitch equipped with a terminal for emptying black and grey water and for refilling water, the terminal being located directly on this single pitch. The site, calm and serene, is close to many campsites and a few metres from a bike rental shop, with a practical network of cycle paths to explore the island by bike. For shopping or strolling, the covered market of Saint-Trojan-les-Bains is held at Place des Filles de la Sagesse (open all year on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, and in summer also every morning with late openings on Thursday evenings). A simple, well-placed spot to park your wheels and enjoy the island.

Tourisme

Saint-Trojan-les-Bains (Charente-Maritime, France)

Seaside resort located at the southern tip of the Île d'Oléron, Saint-Trojan-les-Bains charms with its fine sandy beaches, dunes and pine forest. The terrain is low and rolling, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and quieter wetlands on the other. The village retains a family- and nature-oriented atmosphere, with local shops and accommodations integrated into the landscape. It is a convenient starting point for exploring the rest of the island.

Nature and landscapes

The dune formations and the Forêt domaniale de Saint-Trojan offer long walks or bike rides under the pines. Beaches exposed to the ocean alternate between bathing areas and wilder sections for surf and birdwatching. Sunsets over the marine horizon are frequent and very photogenic.

Outdoor activities

Visitors come for swimming, surfing on the Atlantic beaches and mountain biking on the forest tracks. Shore fishing and coastal discovery outings are accessible at low tide. Trails easily connect Saint-Trojan to neighboring villages on the island for day trips.

Gastronomy and local products

The cuisine relies on marine products from the Île d'Oléron and the Marennes‑Oléron bay, notably the huîtres de Marennes‑Oléron. There are also small restaurants offering fish, seafood and local vegetables depending on the season.

Not to miss

  • Plage de Gatseau — a vast stretch of sand ideal for swimming and surfing.
  • La Grande Plage — the village's main beach, accessible and family-friendly.
  • Forêt domaniale de Saint-Trojan — shaded trails for walking and cycling.
  • Local markets — fresh products and oysters on certain days.
  • Phare de Chassiron — located at the northern tip of the island, a must for a panoramic excursion.
