Description

Welcome to the Cerfontaine motorhome area, in the south of Belgium in Wallonia, nestled in a green setting 500 m from the town center. You will find parking, electrical hookup, wastewater discharge and water supply — accessible from the outside for greater ease — and just steps away a bakery, a grocery, a bar and a restaurant. Enjoy the “immense” lakes of the Eau d’Heure valley for fishing and water activities, a walk on the skywalk of the Plate Taille dam reaching 107 m, and a wooded environment ideal for walks or cycling on roughly 30 km of trails. The village also offers children’s entertainment, cultural activities and exotic natural sites such as the Vaux and Beauchâteau quarries.

Tourisme

Cerfontaine (Philippeville, Belgium)

Cerfontaine is a group of rural villages located in the Philippeville district in the Walloon region. The landscape mixes hedgerow countryside, forests and wetlands, with close proximity to the famous Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure. It is a destination appreciated for its tranquility and outdoor activities rather than for lively urban life. Visitors come for nature, walks and an authentic rural atmosphere.

Nature and landscapes

The area offers landscapes of hedgerow meadows, state forests and banks where the light changes quickly. There are often walking trails and observation points for local wildlife. The nearby lakes structure the panorama and create wetlands of interest for birdwatching and photography.

Outdoor activities

Hiking, mountain biking and fishing enthusiasts have many waymarked routes around the villages and the local water network. Nearby, the Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure offer water activities (swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding) and family-friendly leisure centers. Quiet roads also attract cycle-tourists.

Heritage and local life

The local built environment remains essentially rural: old farms, small chapels and stone houses. Local markets and village cafés reflect a simple way of life. Seasonal local events mark the year, often centered on local produce.

Not to miss

  • Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure: a large lake complex offering water recreation and walks.
  • Surrounding plateau and forests: trails for hiking and mountain biking.
