Description

Welcome to the Donzac motorhome area, at the entrance to the bastide and on the edge of the peaceful Lac des Sources — a village of Gallo‑Roman origin located near Agen on the Bordeaux–Toulouse axis. You will find parking, waste‑water disposal, water refill and electric hook‑up, in a shady, flowered setting labeled “Villes et Villages Fleuris”. Walk along the lake, discover the arboretum of 13 species, enjoy the picnic areas, the communal barbecue and the children's playground; the site, classified Natura 2000 and including two ZNIEFFs, offers tranquility, rich fishing and lovely walks. The village center and its shops (bakery, grocery, tobacconist bar, restaurant, butcher) are reachable within a few minutes on foot via a pedestrian path.

Tourisme

Donzac (Tarn‑et‑Garonne, France)

Donzac is a small rural commune in Tarn‑et‑Garonne, in the Occitanie region. The village lies in an agricultural plain typical of the southwest, punctuated by fields and orchards. It has a peaceful village life, close to the routes serving the larger towns of the Garonne valley. The setting invites slow walks and the discovery of a discreet yet regionally rooted heritage.

Heritage and history

Local heritage remains modest and linked to the rural history of the area: stone houses, small chapels and elements of village life that bear witness to centuries of occupation. Parish churches and wayside crosses, common in the department, make up the historical landscape. For more documented historical references, the departmental archives and museums of nearby towns provide precise information on local development.

Nature and landscapes

The landscapes around Donzac are dominated by agricultural plots, orchards and hedgerow bocage. The proximity of the river valley favors market gardening and fruit growing. Walks on foot or by bike allow you to appreciate the light and wide horizons of Tarn‑et‑Garonne.

Outdoor activities and leisure

The area is suitable for hikes, bike rides and occasional birdwatching outings along nearby wetlands and riparian woodlands. The village’s sports or commercial facilities are limited, but nearby urban centers offer additional activities, markets and services.

Not to be missed

  • The Garonne: a major river landscape of the region, to be observed from the surrounding banks.
  • Agen prunes: an emblematic product found on markets and in shops.
  • The nearby bastides: fortified villages and typical squares of the Southwest to visit in the surroundings.
  • Local markets: a meeting place for fresh produce and regional specialties.
  • Cycle routes: quiet itineraries to discover the Tarn‑et‑Garonne countryside.
