Villeneuve-Loubet (Alpes-Maritimes, France)
Villeneuve-Loubet is a coastal commune located between Nice and Antibes, at the mouth of the Loup. It combines an accessible beachfront and an old perched village, offering a pleasant contrast between seaside and heritage. The presence of modern facilities sits alongside places steeped in local history. It is also a convenient starting point for exploring the Côte d’Azur while remaining quieter than the larger neighboring resorts.
Heritage and history
The Old Village preserves narrow lanes and the remains of the castle that overlooks the sea. Inside the castle is the Musée Escoffier de l’Art Culinaire, which pays tribute to chef Auguste Escoffier, born in the commune. The panoramas from the heights allow one to gauge the maritime and agricultural importance of the region over the centuries.
Contemporary architecture and seafront
The coast is marked by the presence of the Marina Baie des Anges, a set of emblematic residential buildings facing directly onto the sea. Public beaches and landscaped promenades line a bay suitable for swimming and sunsets. There are also modest port facilities and areas for nautical leisure.
Nature and green spaces
The mouth of the Loup and the Parc départemental de Vaugrenier offer quieter environments, between lagoons, pine groves and walking paths. These areas are appreciated for birdwatching and family walks away from the bustle of the waterfront.
