Allemond (Isère, France)
Allemond is a village in the Oisans, located in the valley of the Romanche, between alpine massifs and mountain roads. Its pronounced relief invites discovery of a high-altitude landscape: meadows, forests and nearby peaks. The village often serves as a peaceful base to explore nearby resorts and the major routes of the Oisans. In winter as in summer, it offers an authentic and accessible mountain setting.
Heritage and history
The village retains a rural atmosphere typical of the mountain Dauphiné, with stone houses and some old communal buildings. Local history is linked to mountain farming activities and the hydraulic works in the valley of the Romanche, which shaped the area in the 20th century. There are also chapels and hamlet crosses that punctuate the trails.
Nature and landscapes
The panoramas open onto the Massif des Grandes Rousses and the surrounding ridges. The banks of the Romanche and the nearby alpine pastures offer varied walks: short family routes or more challenging hikes to viewpoints. Alpine flora and high-altitude sites change noticeably with the seasons, from flowering meadows in early summer to snowy scenes.
Outdoor activities
Allemond serves as a base for mountain biking, hiking and easy mountaineering. Nearby are lifts and ski areas accessible by car or seasonal shuttles, which makes winter and summer outings easier.
