Description

On the Causse Noir, at about 900 m altitude and at the crossroads of Gard, Aveyron and Lozère, the Lanuéjols service area warmly welcomes passing motorhome travelers. You will find waste disposal, water refilling (station available 24h/24), electrical hookups and parking (stay limited to 48 hours), with pets allowed on pitches. The site, nestled between valleys and plateaus and very near the Jonte, Tarn, Trèvezel and Dourbie rivers, is an ideal starting point for hikes on rural and pastoral trails, and allows discovery of prehistoric remains (menhirs and dolmens). Nearby: the municipal library and a playground to relax.

Tourisme

Lanuéjols (Gard, France)

Lanuéjols is a small rural village in the Gard, nestled in the foothills of the Cévennes. The place offers a peaceful atmosphere, where stone houses and open landscapes mingle. It has a sparse population and a way of life focused on nature and local farming. It is an ideal starting point for those seeking calm, vistas and walks off the main tourist routes.

Heritage and history

The hamlet preserves traditional stone buildings, tiled roofs and narrow lanes that testify to an old rural history. The village church and a few listed farms embody this vernacular heritage. Traces of agropastoral activity can be read in the walls, terraces and old tracks still used for transhumance.

Nature and landscapes

The surroundings offer plateau and hedged hill landscapes, with pastures, copses and hedgerows. One often notices a beautiful light that colours the plains at sunset. The region is well suited to observing local wildlife and to peaceful walks away from noise.

Outdoor activities

Hiking on the communal paths allows discovery of viewpoints and sunken lanes. Mountain biking, walking and landscape photography are the most practiced activities. The small rural roads also invite drives or bike rides to explore neighbouring villages and surrounding fields.
